More than 4,000 people have tried shooting sports for the first time this year using BASC’s state-of-the-art shooting simulator.
BASC has taken the simulator to more than 30 events so far in 2016 including game fairs, county shows, courses, schools, political party conferences and a series of national sports roadshows. It is also available for private hire and corporate events such as weddings, conferences and AGMs.
The ST-2 simulator – the most realistic on the market – helps to provide a professional introduction to shotgun shooting.
The 4,000th person to use the simulator this year was Kris Hopkins MP at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.
He said: “It was a lot of fun to have the chance to try out the very impressive simulator. I am proud to represent the most picturesque constituency in the country and shooting is an integral part of rural life, underpinning the social and economic fabric of the countryside. In addition to its significant economic contribution, providing jobs and investment in some of our most remote areas, the sport delivers important benefits for wildlife and habitat conservation.”
Peter Marshall, BASC’s sporting services officer, said: “The simulator attracted a lot of attention at the conference, in particular, and as well as being the 4,000th person to use the simulator, Kris Hopkins featured on a leaderboard of MPs’ scores. We are delighted to have helped so many people get their first taste of shooting sports and build on existing skills.”
Duncan Greaves, a member of BASC Council and a BASC-accredited shotgun coach, said: “The simulator is an excellent way of introducing newcomers to shooting. It is also great for experienced shooters to analyse their shooting in fine detail, with the simulator’s analytical tools and replay function. We received very positive feedback from everyone who has used the simulator.”
