An Essex woman and her family have dined in style after winning the services of a top chef for the evening.
Mark Gough, who has worked at some of Europe’s top restaurants including Raymond Blanc’s Manoir au Quat’Saisons, took over Kay Hewitt’s kitchen for the evening and produced a gourmet meal featuring partridge, duck and hare.
Kay, who lives near Brentwood, won the prize after entering the British Association for Shooting and Conservation’s ‘Win a Chef’ competition which was organised as part of the association’s Taste of Game Week celebrations.
Kay said: “When I received the letter congratulating me, it didn’t sink in at first. In fact I had to read it three times before I realised I’d actually won! I got very excited at the thought of a top class chef actually cooking for me. It’s the sort of thing you only see on TV.”
