BASC has helped over three thousand city children from London and Essex experience countryside life at a special event last month.
The children attended the two-day Countryside Live schools event, which is organised by the Countryside Foundation for Education (CFE) and supported by BASC at Lee Valley Park in Leyton.
The day was hosted by Jane Matthews and Susan Bull from BASC’s shooting standards department with presentations by David Mills and Vic Chytry from the Airgun Training and Education Organisation.
The children had a talk on airgun safety, learned about the food chain and then they all tried a venison burger.
BASC training officer, Jane Matthews, said: “This event is a wonderful opportunity to introduce city children to aspects of the countryside that they may otherwise never have experienced. It’s wonderful to be involved in such a fantastic event that the children thoroughly enjoy.”
