BASC and Norfolk Police will be joining forces at the Holkham Country Fair on 18-19 July to raise awareness of rural crime.
BASC is supporting the force’s initiative Operation Cockerel which has been re-introduced this year before the summer, when thousands of poults are at their most valuable to thieves hoping to re-sell them before the start of the shooting season.
Operation Cockerel was first launched in 2007 after more than £60,000 of pheasant poults, partridge chicks and feeding equipment were reported stolen from suppliers and landowners across Norfolk. The scheme includes increased patrols in vulnerable areas and encourages closer work in relationships between the police and organisations like BASC.
