This was a hands-on day where all took part in each of the disciplines and learned about the safe handling of shotguns and air rifles before being allowed to use them with one-to-one tuition with BASC coaches. Samson the Harris Hawk flew to each of their wrists which proved an awsome experience for those who’ve never seen a bird of prey close up. Richard Edwards, our longnetting expert, explained the importance of rabbit control in this traditional manner and showed them how to set the nets out. They worked in teams and were encouraged to support each other. Working dogs are always a great favourite and Glynne Evans, the BASC Gamekeeping Officer, demonstrated some basic training techniques before going off on a simulated drive. BASC Midland Region extends our thanks to Park Farm for the sole use of their superb ground and facilities and to all our committed coaches and volunteers.
