BASC Young Shots members are being offered an opportunity to win a day’s driven pheasant and partridge shooting on the Longner Estate near Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Entrants need to write, in no more than 200 words, why they think gamekeeping is good for the countryside and why they think they should be picked to take part in the event on 9th November.
Nine places are up for grabs for BASC Young Shot members aged between 12 and 18-years-old who hold a shotgun certificate. The winners will also receive a DVD of the day, a meal and transport on the shoot.
Steve Bloomfield, BASC’s Midland director, said: “This fantastic prize will give nine young people an invaluable opportunity to take part in a day’s driven shooting."
Andrew Bailey, who runs Longner Sporting Services, said: “Our young shots are the future of shooting and conservation and I want to give them the chance to experience driven game shooting in a safe and controlled environment.”
The day will start with a supervised simulated drive using clay targets followed by four game drives and each winner will be allocated their own minder for the day.
The closing date for the competition is 1st October 2010 – the start of the pheasant shooting season.
