People in Cumbria will have a chance to try a taste of game at a dinner organised by the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). A seven course mixed game meal will be hosted at the Blacksmith’s Restaurant, Bigrigg, near Egremont, on Friday 19th November. The dinner will include game koftas, venison terrine, rabbit broth and woodcock.
The dinner has been organised as part of BASC’s National Taste of Game Fortnight, which will run from 6th – 20th November. National Taste of Game Fortnight is part of BASC’s ongoing Game’s On initiative which highlights the benefits of game as a local, wild and nutritious food and encourages people to enjoy eating game.
All of the game served at the dinner will be sourced from local shoots and prepared to a high standard by the Blacksmith’s head chef Steve Faulkner who was trained at the prestigious Connaught hotel in London. BASC’S Northern regional officer Steve Woodhall said: “The dinner is being held with the kind support of restaurant owner Raymond Watson With a licensed bar and fine wine cellar the evening is sure to be hugely popular and demand for tables will be high so please book early.”
Tickets cost £40 per person. For more information, phone Steve Woodhall on 01539564400 or email steven.woodhall@0ld.basc.org.uk
