The Midland team had a busy two days on the new extended BASC village at the British Shooting Show, Newark Showground in February. Saturday was particularly packed and our team of volunteers hardly had any time to look around the show themselves! This show is becoming very popular; totally under cover in huge heated halls, it is protected from the vagaries of the weather.
Local wildfowling club the Spalding and District Wildfowlers’ Association again staged a wonderful display of punt guns and vintage fowling pieces, accompanied by Tom Grange and his collection of antique and rare cartridges. The club was very pleased with the interest from potential new members.
Chef Ralph Skripeck (pictured) manned the Taste of Game cooking demonstration which filled the hall with the wonderful smell of his pheasant, rabbit and woodpigeon dishes. Other poplular attractions at the village included Cornish Countryman Chris Green, gunmaker Graham Perry, the BASC deer department, stick maker Ernest Wilson, BASC’s membership team and the GoShooting area.
