BASC to co-sponsor Feast East 2010

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) will co-sponsor Feast East 2010, the regional food festival for the East of England, on 5th and 6th March 2010. Feast East will be held at Chilford Hall, near Linton in South-East Cambridgeshire.

Embracing BASC’s Game’s On campaign to encourage people to enjoy cooking and eating wild game, both of the Feast East demonstration arenas will feature game-themed activities. Many of the region’s best chefs will cook rabbit, pigeon and venison as part of their demonstrations over the two days in the festival’s cookery theatre – such as TV chef Galton Blackiston of Morston Hall preparing roast juniper crusted venison loin; Jay Scrimshaw from The Pheasant at Keyston cooking pot-roast stuffed leg and pan-fried saddle of rabbit with mustard cream; and Mark Jones of Down Hall making a venison, chestnut and cranberry terrine. In the "foodie skills " area on both days, Robert Gooch, owner of the Wild Meat Company, which is also providing the game meats for the cookery theatre, will be hosting a game bird masterclass and Mark Burrage of Bluebell Woods Wild Venison will be leading a tutorial in venison with a butchery demonstration.  These are all part of  a range of overall attractions arranged through Tastes of Anglia at this year’s Feast East.
