BASC moves to fill gap in gun insurance market

From 1 December, BASC members will be able to insure their guns under a new tailor-made scheme launched by the Association.

The policy has been arranged by BASC and its insurance brokers Marsh and will be administered by Newmoon. It is designed to provide cover for accidental damage, theft or loss of guns and air rifles and includes some cover for accessories.

Premiums start from under £30 per year for £1000 of cover and less than £50 per year for £3000 of cover (subject to terms and conditions). BASC members should phone 0845 072 8539 for further details and a quotation or click here.

BASC’s head of membership marketing, David Ilsley, said: “Many members call BASC asking for advice on how and where to insure their guns, often because some home insurers are now refusing to cover them. After several months work investigating and developing a package I’m delighted to launch this service which is specifically designed for BASC members and should help take some of the uncertainty out of the choice facing gun owners. We believe it’s a good value-for-money offer, and one we’re proud to make available under the BASC name.”
