Agricultural students are celebrating after completing their safe shot assessment with the help of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). Staff from BASC’s Northern Ireland office have been working closely with the students from the College of Agriculture, Food & Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) in Antrim.
Safe Shot is a BASC award that recognises candidates’ knowledge of shotgun safety and safe gun handling.
BASC also arranged a shooting sports programme for 15 of the students, culminating in a day’s rough shooting at a local estate, as well as helping them to establish the Greenmount Country Sports Club.
BASC’s Northern Ireland Director Roger Pollen said: “Congratulations are due to everyone who completed their safe shot assessment. We wish them well for the future of their new club.”
