A date for shoot development day

The next shoot development day in the Midland Region will take place on 4 August in south Derbyshire. These days, aimed at helping smaller shoots develop and become successful, have become very popular. Many shoots up and down the country rely on part-time keepers or are run on a DIY basis and often there is a need for basic gamekeeping experience so that costly mistakes can be avoided.

This day has been specifically set at a time when pheasant poults and mallardgrowers are established in the coverts and ponds and the cover crops are developing well. This is a unique opportunity to spend a hands-on day on the shoot with experienced keepers where the main topics and problem areas can be discussed and questions asked.

Manor Farm is an incredible example ofwhat can be achieved on a very small shoot with a part time keeper. All areas of game and shoot management are covered: selection of livestock, predator control, woodland management and feeding, right through to presenting birds on shoot days.

The cost is just £70 for BASC members.

Non-members are also welcome at a cost of £136 which will include one year’s membership.
