BASC tells NE to get a grip on general licences chaos

Natural England’s appalling decision to suspend the general licences, with only two days’ notice, happened just as our Shooting & Conservation magazine was going to print.

You will have seen in the national media and on social media that BASC – like other leading rural organisations – has been fighting this decision since the moment it was announced.

Let’s be clear, Natural England acted without consultation and gave us no notice to deal with the fall-out and provide the information and reassurances that you, our members, and the rural community deserves.

We are fighting this all the way and we will continue to provide information and updates as they emerge.

Due to print deadlines, it was too late to make significant changes to the May/June edition of S&C; we will provide full analysis next time around. In the meantime, follow our website and social media. Alternatively, you can call us on 01244 573 000.

I’m sure you’ll agree the cover of the magazine that drops on your doormats in the coming days is still inspiring and engaging.

But due to those strict print deadlines, it is not the cover we would have used under the circumstances.

It should leave Natural England in no doubt that it needs to ‘Get A Grip!’
