BASC boosts North of England team.

Duncan ThomasDuncan Thomas, a former wildlife crime liaison officer in a high-profile role with Lancashire Constabulary, has joined the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), to boost the regional team for the North of England.

Duncan, as regional officer for North West England, will be based in Preston, Lancashire and will work primarily with BASC members in Lancashire, Cumbria, Cheshire and the Isle of Man. Duncan has been a BASC member for twenty years and his interests include game shooting, deer management and the breeding and training of gundogs.  He beats, picks-up and shoots throughout the North West.

BASC’s Northern regional director Alasdair Mitchell said: “Duncan is well-known in shooting and conservation circles in the North West and across the country and we are pleased to have him on board.  His knowledge and enthusiasm for shooting sports together with his technical expertise will be a positive addition to the BASC North of England team.”

Duncan Thomas said: “I am delighted to have been selected for the role of North West regional officer and I can’t wait to meet as many fellow BASC members as possible and get to grips with the issues they face. I have been a lifelong member of BASC and I am particularly keen to encourage the next generation into shooting through the Young Shots programme.”
