BASC Ladies Star of Shooting award winner honoured

The winner of BASC Ladies Shooting’s Star of Shooting award 2018 has been presented with her prize at BASC HQ.

Louise Alford, founder of the Yorkshire Fillies, was nominated for the work she does to support ladies in shooting. She has also founded Derbyshire, Cheshire and Lancashire Fillies, giving more women opportunities to try shooting sports and to progress in a friendly group atmosphere.

She was presented with her prizes by BASC chief executive Ian Bell.

BASC Ladies Shooting co-ordinator Kathleen O’Connor said: “Louise has worked so hard to offer ladies opportunities to shoot in their local areas. As well as being a busy mum of three, she has also found time to start her own clothing business. She offers support to ladies who want to try shooting and her nominations reflect her endless enthusiasm for the sport.

“Louise receives the BASC award for all her efforts and for the countless women she has introduced to shooting. This year has seen a high calibre of nominees.”

Louise said: “It was an absolute honour and I am overwhelmed to have been nominated for this award by the lovely ladies that come along to our days. It’s amazing to see the ladies grow in confidence and shooting ability not just at Fillies days but at all the ladies shoot days organised by different groups in the UK. Thank you so much to all the ladies who took the time to nominate, I feel truly blessed.”

Louise received a commemorative crystal award, a BASC Taste of Game Hamper, a bouquet of flowers as well as prizes from Sporting Hares, Hi Ho Silver and On the Peg Clothing.
