Chris Green, better known to many BASC members as The Cornish Countryman, and Shane Robinson, BASC’s newly appointed wildfowling officer are about to embark on a real test of endurance in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.
The pair are part of a five-man team who are walking 100km, across the battlefields of the Western Front, in the Frontline Walk, to commemorate the Centenary of the First World War.
As if that’s not enough of a challenge, Chris is planning to do it in his waders, carrying a bag of decoys.
Chris and Shane will be joined by John Cavana, Richard Walton and falconer Tori Goodall.
Shane Robinson, BASC wildfowling officer said: “As an ex-serviceman myself I know only too well just how important military charities are to those both injured in service and to the families of those that aren’t lucky enough to make it home.
“Being able to help their cause and tie it in with my passion for country sports seemed too good a chance to pass up, when Chris and I were first approached by John and Richard at the Game Fair last year.
“We gave ourselves a £10,000 target and at the moment we are not quite there so if you can help us reach the target please donate.”
The walk will start from the Lochnagar Crater in La Boiselle, France on October 3rd and will finish at the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium, on October 7th with the Ceremony of the Last Post.
