NATURAL ENGLAND chairman Andrew Sells launched the Wildlife Habitat Trust’s 2018 conservation stamp at The Game Fair.
The £5 stamp features artwork entitled ‘Teal at Chichester Harbour’ by renowned wildlife artist Andrew Stock.
This year’s stamp is the 28th in the series and the artwork will also appear on prints and badges, raising funds to support conservation loans and grants.
The Wildlife Habitat Trust (WHT) was established in 1986 at the request of BASC’s membership and has become well-known as the UK’s sporting shooting conservation fund.
Mr Stock said: “It was a privilege to be asked to provide the artwork for this year’s stamp. I was equally delighted that the chosen bird was a teal, a particular favourite that I have enjoyed painting on several previous occasions.”
Paul Williamson, BASC head of land management and secretary to the WHT, said: “Money raised from the sale of the stamps and the prints directly benefits wildfowling and conservation. It enables the WHT to continue its valuable work supporting deserving projects.”
BASC chairman Peter Glenser QC, a WHT trustee, said: “The stamps are always very evocative and pay tribute to stunning habits and their wildlife.
“It is extremely heartening that so many people continue to support the stamps each year. In doing so, they provide the funds which help ensure that wildfowling throughout the UK continues to thrive.
