No further restrictions on Exe wildfowling, says BASC

BASC has objected to any further wildfowling restrictions in its response to a public consultation about the Exe Estuary.

BASC says in its response to a review of zonation and codes of conduct on the Exe that wildfowling is already a well-regulated activity carried out responsibly.

In its response, BASC recommended that:

· The proposed voluntary exclusion zones on the Exe Estuary target unregulated activities in the estuary.

· That wildfowling be recognised in the relevant codes as a well-regulated activity carried out responsibly that takes place on the estuary managed by the Devon Wildfowlers & Conservation Association.

· That there be some form of signage placed on the ground providing information about wildfowling on the estuary and the work of the club with reference to the DWCA website for additional information.

· That if imagery is used on the codes of various activities i.e. boat, person fishing, birdwatching etc. that a wildfowling image be included.
