The inaugural R.A.B.I Bedfordshire Clay Shoot will be held in March to raise funds for farmers in financial hardship.
The competition, kindly sponsored by Ben Burgess Ltd, Brown and Co and Kramp, is open to teams of three at the Sporting Targets shooting ground in Riseley on Saturday March 24 2018. The day will begin at 9.30am and costs £45 per person, which includes lunch. The shoot offers a 40-bird sporting and 30-bird flurry mix.
The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I) gives out grants of around £2m per year to people of all ages from the farming sector in financial need. R.A.B.I helps working farmers, farmworkers and their families who rely on farming for their main source of income. Support can also be given to retired farmers, farmworkers and their dependants, who have spent at least 10 years in the industry.
Lucy Bellefontaine, R.A.B.I Regional Manager for the East, said:
“Much of our work is funded by voluntary donations and we are fortunate to have some outstanding county committees who do great work to organise fundraisers, such as this shoot in Bedfordshire.
“Farm accidents, serious illnesses such as cancer, neurological diseases, strokes and heart disease, cash flow problems and animal disease are some of the reasons why people seek our help.
“R.A.B.I’s work is important because in farming it’s impossible to prepare for all eventualities. Sometimes, something can appear out of nowhere and hit you and your family hard.”
