The UK’s largest shooting association, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, has appointed a new director for Wales.
Steven Griffiths, who was previously projects manager & deer liaison officer Wales at the Deer Initiative, was first introduced to shooting aged 10.
After leaving school he went on to Llysfasi Agricultural College and put his new skills to good use on the family farm.
He also spent 17 years working for the National Trust in countryside management.
Steven will be responsible for developing support and services for BASC members and will manage political and public affairs in support of shooting in Wales.
Acting BASC chief executive Christopher Graffius said: “We are delighted to welcome Steven to BASC. He brings a wealth of knowledge, which will benefit the organisation and the members.
“Shooting plays a key role in the economy and conservation in Wales and his expertise and experience will not only help promote the benefits and profile of shooting but also build on the service we provide to our members in Wales.”
Steven said: “I am excited by this opportunity and looking forward to meeting BASC members new and old as I travel across Wales. I have always been passionate about shooting and what it brings to the economy and I look forward to promoting BASC across Wales.”
