Dear BASC,
I have just read what is probably my last BASC magazine. My husband Jeff, 72, died in March, and he had been a BASC member (originally WAGBI) since 1962, the year before we married.
Shooting was his life. He went wildfowling and clay pigeon shooting. He could repair guns, blue and brown them, checker stocks, make his own cartridges. He had old guns and new guns.
We both read the magazine, and I received your emails. Jeff had a mini ipad, but he only used it for looking up guns and shooting information. I hope I will continue to receive your emails, and support you in your constant battle against shooting’s predators.
I would like to pay a special thankyou to Lawrence Jones, of Bamford’s Gun Shop, Eccleston, who, following Jeff’s sudden death, took his many guns to the shop and informed the police for me, as I did not have a shotgun certificate. My husband would have hated the police taking them.
I include photos of my husband, aged 21 in 1965, and his gun cabinet door, showing a lifetime of shooting.
Yours faithfully
Kath Almond
