BASC to host its first ever national clay shooting competition

Clay shooters will go head to head in a new national competition being launched by BASC.

The BASC National Clay Shooting Competition will launch at the Kelmarsh Country Show, which will be held on Easter Sunday and Monday (April 16th and 17th) at Kelmarsh Hall in Northampton.

The competition is being held as part of a Clay Shooting Festival hosted by BASC and Countryman Fairs at each of Countryman Fairs’ shows in 2017.

Prizes will be up for grabs each day for the top shots and at each shoot, people in each class will qualify for a place in the Grand Final at the Midland Game Fair in September.

Top prizes are:

*Winner of the professional competition: £3,000
*Winner of the club competition: a Browning trophy plus a Browning Sporter 12 bore shotgun
*Winner of the ladies’ competition: a trophy plus £100
*Winner of the veterans’ competition: a trophy plus £100
*Winner of the junior competition: a trophy plus £100

David Ilsley from BASC said: “For 2017, BASC and Countryman Fairs have completely reformatted the clay shooting line at each of Countryman Fairs’ events. The clay lines at the shows will have lots of exciting and groundbreaking features that are sure to raise a few eyebrows.

“We are very excited that the BASC National Clay Shooting Competition will kick-start at Kelmarsh. We will hold individual competition days on each day at each event, with higher cash prizes available and more prizes and more competitions on offer.”
