BASC, the UK’s largest shooting organisation, has helped Reading University students prepare for their first shooting competition.
Students from the university’s clay pigeon shooting club, including complete novices, enjoyed a morning of shooting at Happy Valley Clays under the guidance of qualified BASC shotgun coaches.
Michelle Nudds, BASC South East regional officer, said: “I am delighted we were able to bring together Reading University with Happy Valley Clays to help them practice for their forthcoming competitions and introduce a number of their new members to shooting via our BASC instructors.”
The experienced shooters joined a member of the Happy Valley Clays for a 50-bird practice round while those shooting for the first time enjoyed a full introductory lesson.
Mike Bumford, president of the university’s clay pigeon club, said: “We were pleased to be working with the expert guidance of BASC’s shooting instructors to introduce some of our new members to shooting plus give a further opportunity for the more experienced guns to practice ahead of our first competition at St Andrews in November.”
