BASC’s written evidence on grouse shooting has been published online ahead of a Parliamentary debate.
The document was submitted by BASC to the Petitions Committee grouse shooting inquiry ahead of the debate, on a League Against Cruel Sports-backed petition to ban grouse shooting, which will take place on 31st October.
Sophie Hutchinson, BASC’s political affairs manager, said: “Grouse moor management has far reaching benefits – economically, environmentally and culturally – the evidence is clear. These include benefits to biodiversity and wildlife, ecology, the environment and the sustainable management of the uplands.”
Peter Glenser, BASC chairman, said: “Policy makers need to take note of the evidence rather than misinformation arising from political lobbying campaigns.”
BASC’s submission can be read here.
BASC is urging its members to continue to lobby their MPs on the benefits of grouse shooting ahead of the debate.
BASC launched a campaign website to allow members to lobby their MPs to establish their position on grouse shooting.
By following the link on the BASC website, members can directly contact their MP to ask their position on grouse shooting. Responses will then be collated by BASC for other members to see.
