WITH the start of the lowland game season on the horizon, BASC has launched a gundog first aid kit.
The kit includes antiseptic solution, bandages and dressings, scissors and a tick remover so that minor injuries can be treated in the field. It is available for £10 online and can also be bought from BASC gundog stands at shows and events across the UK.
Matt Dutton, from BASC’s game and deer management team, said: “It’s a fact of life that working gundogs pick up injuries in the field. Most of them are minor and, thankfully, recovery can be swift if the right treatment is given as early as possible. This BASC kit has all the essentials to allow basic first aid.
“The kit is best used in conjunction with the BASC publication ‘First Aid for Gundogs’, a guide covering basic first aid procedures and other useful information that those working with dogs should have readily available.”
‘First Aid for Gundogs’ is available from the BASC shop for £2.
