Still time to wow #twelfie judges with grouse photo

grousey ladscapeLESS than a week remains to enter a photograph in BASC’s #twelfie competition as the grouse season gets into full swing.

The competition closes on August 31st, with the winner of a Purdey grouse jacket worth £700 to be announced shortly after. The runner up receives 500 Eley Zenith cartridges.

BASC northern director Duncan Thomas said: “There have been some excellent submissions so far. It’s heartening to see pictures that highlight the beauty of grouse moorlands and the work which maintains that precious, rare ecosystem.

“Some of the early favourites have been photos of well-kept heather and healthy sphagnum moss, which makes the perfect environment for wildlife on the moors. But there is still a week to wow the judges with a snap which captures the essence of grouse shooting.”

BASC chairman Peter Glenser said: “Around 40,000 people take part in grouse shooting annually and it supports the equivalent of 2,500 full-time jobs. It’s clear from the photo submissions so far that grouse shooting also attracts some excellent photographers.”
