EXPERTS in deer management will give presentations at a free ‘Talking Stalking’ evening hosted by BASC and The Deer Initiative.
The event, at the Eagles Hotel, Llanrwst, north Wales, on September 7 (6pm), will feature lectures from Andrew Treadaway, a specialist in urban deer management, and David Harris, a vet for the Welsh government.
David Phillips, a lecturer at Llandrillo College, will advise on carcass butchery, health and safety, and European bush craft. Patrick Faulkner will explain his role as a Deer Management Qualification and Deer Initiative verifier, assessor and deer management expert. Deer Initiative development officer Steve Griffiths will be on hand to take questions.
Sam Walker, a member of BASC’s game and deer management team, said: “We have seen an increase in deer populations in the UK over the last 20 years. It is more important than ever that we highlight best practice to our members.”
“We have lined up a fantastic range of speakers who are more than happy to respond to questions and deal with concerns our members may have. There’s no need to book, just turn up.”
