BASC’s direct reach on social media has topped 100,000.
The association has a number of Twitter feeds, Facebook pages and a YouTube channel which keep followers, likers and subscribers up to date with the latest BASC news.
Debbie Collins, from the BASC press office, said: “Our social media feeds are instrumental in keeping followers up to date with the work we are doing.
“We have a number of official feeds tailored to suit a wide range of interests.
“This number equates to almost 70 per cent of our total memberships. It reflects the number of people who have made a conscious decision to follow, like or subscribe to our feeds. Our actual reach on social media will be even greater. Thank you to all of our followers for helping us achieve this milestone.”
John Thornley, vice chairman of BASC council, said: “BASC’s social media feeds enable people to keep up to date with the latest news from the association. People tend to take their phones and tablets with them wherever they go and social media makes it even easier for them to keep in touch.”
Duncan Thomas, BASC’s director for Northern England and one of the association’s most prolific ‘Tweeters’, said: “We embrace the extremely positive ability of social media to hit a wide audience almost instantly. We encourage more and more people to engage with us through it.”
