BASC underlines importance of Welsh snaring code

twitter logoGroups opposed to the use of snares to control foxes are deliberately ignoring the recently introduced Welsh Government Code of best practice on the use of snares in fox control.

The Welsh Government Code contains sensible and practical guidelines, which all those involved in fox snaring in Wales must now follow. By following the Code users will help defeat the siren calls from extremists.

Snaring is very much a part of normal country life and the unintended consequences of losing snares are far reaching, in terms of predator control, damage to farm incomes and growth as well as biodiversity loss.

Gary Ashton, BASC Wales Director, said: “It is essential that we keep snaring as an effective and humane system of pest control. Demonstrating that we are all following the code is good for rural Wales.”
