BASC is supporting Clean for The Queen – a campaign to tidy up Britain in time for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June.
The campaign aims to recruit an army of volunteers to help give the country a spring clean ahead of the Queen’s official birthday celebrations.
A nationwide Clean for The Queen weekend takes place from 4 to 6 March, but volunteers can pitch in and organise a litter pick until the Queen’s official birthday in June.
Tim Russell, BASC’s director of conservation, said: “Everybody takes pride in a clean shot, well we would like to also have a clean shoot in honour of Her Majesty the Queen.
“Conservation is key to the sport of shooting, but that starts with simply keeping land clean. It would be great if those involved in shooting could spend some time in the coming months tidying up the land on which they enjoy their sport.
“Even if just a few members from a syndicate get together for a litter-pick on field boundaries one afternoon, every bit helps.
“The whole community has a role to play in helping to keep our country litter-free. By supporting the Clean for The Queen campaign, we hope to encourage community action and play our part in paying a fitting tribute to Her Majesty’s dedicated service to this country.”
