BASC South West will host a country sports activity day for young people on the banks of Lake Wimbleball, near Dulverton, Exmoor, on 16th August.
The day will start and finish with a boat ride across the lake where the Young Shots will take part in a number of countryside activities including; clay and air rifle shooting both under the supervision of BASC-accredited coaches. There will be a great opportunity to learn how to survive in the wild with a dedicated bush craft session being run by South West Lakes staff.
As the event is taking place on the banks of a prestigious trout fishery the young shots will also get the chance to catch their first ever trout with fly-fishing instruction from Lake Wimbleball fishing guides. Add some gundogs, decoying skills and deer stalking and we are set for an action packed day to remember.
James Green from BASC England South West said: “This event is ideal for Youngsters aged 8 – 16, you don’t need to be a BASC member or have any previous experience. The day is perfect for anyone interested in country sports, there really is something for everyone, definitely a day not to be missed. Those familiar with this area of the beautiful Exmoor National Park will understand why it’s such a privilege to be able to use the venue, the surroundings really are stunning.”
Places cost just £25 per child. BASC will supply everything needed for the day, parents just need to send young people along with lunch and appropriate clothing.
