People taking part in this year’s Countryside Clay Shoot will have the chance to shoot some of the finest shotguns in the world for charity, courtesy of globally renowned gun maker Purdey.
The charity shoot will be held at the Six Mile Bottom shooting estate in Cambridgeshire on Saturday 23 May 2015. It will raise money for the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust (GWT) and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and has been organised by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and the CLA.
For a £20 donation on the day, people can use a shotgun manufactured by world-famous gun maker Purdey, holder of Royal Warrants from Her Majesty the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales.
Teams of four will compete across six stands with a mix of simulated game targets. Places cost £150 per person which includes cartridges, lunch and hospitality. Individuals and pairs who enter will be placed into teams on the day. The winning team will receive the Hugh van Cutsem Challenge Cup, dedicated to the memory of the keen shot and countryman, which will be presented by Emilie van Cutsem.
Twenty five teams took part in the 2014 event, which was won by the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation and included teams from BASC, the CLA, the Countryside Alliance, The Angling Trust and the National Farmers’ Union.
James Horne, executive chairman of James Purdey and Sons said: “We are delighted to support the excellent causes that will benefit from the Countryside Clay Shoot. We believe we make the best shotguns in the world and we are sure that those competing in the shoot will all want to have a go with an icon of the gun making world.”
Richard Ali, chief executive of BASC, said: “Purdey’s involvement is tremendous and a real boost to the countryside organisations’ objective to raise funds for the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.”
