Bob, a seven-year-old English Springer Spaniel, has taken the top trophy as the overall winner of the BASC Gamekeepers’ classes at Crufts 2015.
Bob is owned by gamekeeper Paul Drewery and his partner Helen Fox who live in Nottinghamshire. He was shown in the Gamekeepers’ classes by Helen Fox.
The classes, organised by the UK’s largest shooting organisation the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), saw Master Bojangles – known as Bob – win the Northesk Memorial Trophy after going up against other class winners for final judging in the main arena.
Handler Helen was delighted to win. She said: “I’m absolutely over the moon. I’m really, really pleased. He’s a very good dog and now he’s won this. Thank you very much to the judge Fiona Smith for thinking so highly of him.”
Glynn Evans, BASC’s head of game and deer management, said: “The Gamekeepers’ classes were again popular and there was great interest in the scurry demonstration which the crowd enjoyed.
“Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in the BASC gamekeepers’ and working gundog classes.”
The Northesk Memorial Trophy was presented by BASC chairman Alan Jarrett.
He said: “I was delighted to be in the main arena at Crufts to present the trophy to the overall winner of BASC’s Gamekeepers’ classes. All of the dogs in the gamekeepers’ classes are working dogs in their prime and it was fantastic to see them appear at the world’s largest dog show in front of a global audience.”
