The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), starts 2015 in a strong position to continue to promote and defend shooting with the announcement that its membership has risen to more than 140,000.
BASC Chairman Alan Jarrett said: “I am delighted to be able to start the New Year with the announcement of BASC’s growing membership passing a significant milestone. The organisation is evolving rapidly through change defined by BASC’s elected council and implemented by BASC’s committed staff.

“BASC membership offers benefits which are second to none and the organisation is dedicated to promoting all shooting disciplines. We know that shooting generates £2bn for the economy every year and brings important economic, conservation and social benefits.
“BASC will continue to work to bring together the best value for our members and the effective representation for shooting on the ground, in politics and in the media.”
BASC Chief Executive Richard Ali said: “2015 will be a challenging year. With the General Election in May promising uncertainty over the make up and direction of the next government it has rarely been more important that people who shoot join an organisation which can deliver.
“BASC membership includes comprehensive insurance and practical help and guidance with all aspects of shooting and firearms licensing. We also work to provide an effective voice for shooting in politics and the media across the UK.
“In addition, the range of significant discounts available to BASC members on everything from a brand new vehicle to the weekly shop means that members can recoup the cost of membership many times over.
“BASC is committed to providing an effective voice for shooting and with every new member who joins us that voice is growing stronger.”
