Pubs and restaurants in the South West will be giving their customers the opportunity to try a taste of game this November.
The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has organised game tastings and dinners in the region during its National Taste of Game Week which runs from 15-22 November.
Pubs and restaurants in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire are supporting National Taste of Game Week by putting game on their menus (see pages 2 and 3). Recipes and details of where to buy and eat game in the South West are available through www.gameson.org.uk.
BASC regional director for the south west, Jamie Stewart, said: “We are delighted to be working with restaurants, hotels and pubs in the South West to promote the eating of our wonderful seasonal harvest. In this time of economic crisis value for money is on everyone’s mind. Game represents quality food for little money.”
BASC has also produced a dozen new game recipes to mark National Taste of Game Week – for details of the recipes and accompanying images contact 01244 573031. The new recipes have been developed by TV chef Mike Robinson along with the director of his cooking school, Cat Sheppard.
