The South East Young Shots have enjoyed a fun packed summer with two activity days attracting nearly 60 participants overall. The first day was held at Plumpton College near Lewes and the second at the Southdowns Gun Club near Findon. At both events youngsters got a chance to participate in air rifle and clay pigeon shooting under the tuition of BASC coaches. In addition, the Hampshire Salmon & Trout Association were there to provide expert tuition in fly fishing casting and the art of fly tying, with youngsters having the opportunity to make their own lures. Dave Small from Reedland Retrievers brought along his three beautiful dogs providing demonstrations of gundog handling and giving everyone the chance to have a go at working the dogs. During a nature walk the Young Shots got a chance to learn about tree identification, wildlife habitats and the importance of biodiversity. The volunteers, coaches and hosts at both venues did a brilliant job and we have already received very positive feedback from the Young Shots and their parents.
