A group of young people from Oxfordshire have been improving their shooting skills at an event at Common Leys Farm, Worminghall this week.
The ‘progression day’ was organised by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and Greenfield Entertainment to help young people develop and improve their existing shooting skills as well as to find out more about the background and safety in their sport.
Roger Hance provided an insight into the history of the sporting shotgun with Young Shots getting the opportunity to fire one of his guns while BASC shotgun coaches Robin Dunkley and John Farley were on hand to talk about the safety, theory and practical side of shooting.
BASC regional officer for the south east, Jenni Thompson, said: “All of the Young Shots proved to be excellent shots and very well-informed about their sport already but I think they all gained a great deal from having access to such knowledgeable coaches and volunteers who taught them during the course of the day.”
