New head of press relations takes up post at BASC

A former BBC environment correspondent and soldier has become the new head of press relations at BASC.

Dave Harper has spent the last four years working as Head of Television with Army Media Operations. Although based at the Army’s Headquarters he spent much of his time filming on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan or on exercise in Central America, Africa or the Falkland Islands.

For more than fifteen years Dave worked for BBC radio and television as a news reporter and environment correspondent. He also produced over a hundred editions of the regional news programme East Midlands Today.

Dave originally from Derbyshire, served as a soldier in the Territorial Army for eight years and has a long interest in the countryside, rural issues and conservation.

Dave said: “I’m really proud to have the opportunity to work for BASC. It’s an exciting time to join the Association because of the centenary year and the plans to build a new communications centre. I’m also looking forward to using my skills as a TV producer to help promote the sport as BASC begins a second century of serving its members.”
