There will be plenty of opportunities for gundog owners in the south west to show off their handling skills at the Cotswold Country Show in Cirencester Park, Gloucestershire this year.
The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has organised a new gundog scurry competition for the show on 5-6 July. The competition will be run over four scurry disciplines set in the shadow of the park’s famous statue of Queen Anne. Lord and Lady Apsley have generously donated a perpetual trophy, aptly named the Queen Anne Cup.
Dog and handler will compete against the clock with the overall winner having the quickest combined time for all four scurries winning the Queen Anne Cup and £100 in Chudleys dog food vouchers on Sunday 6 July. An additional prize will be presented to the best young handler.
All four scurries will be open on Saturday 5 July with prizes for the fastest time and fastest young handler on each course. BASC will also run a "have-a-go" scurry for those who wish to run their dogs without the competitive element.
