Kent Farming Futures

The inaugural Kent Farming Futures event, held on 12th October at the Kent Show Ground, was a huge success with over 400 children aged 14-16 from schools around Kent attending.   The event was organised by the Kent County Agricultural Society with the aim of introducing children to career opportunities within farming, land management, conservation and the land based sector in general.   Over 40 exhibitors attended the event including the National Farmers’ Union and Hadlow College together with local engineering firms and various local farm enterprises.  The BASC stand proved to be one of the most popular attractions with its display of hides, shotguns and traps and South East Regional Director, Dan Reynolds together with Political Affairs Office Sam Edwards were kept very busy answering questions about careers in Gamekeeping, Deer Management and working as a Gillie.
